Hagerty Spring Thaw 2023 – Photo Preview

Whew! That was a wet one!

CCA’s Hagerty Spring Thaw started in Harrison Hot Springs for 2023, with an ‘unofficial’ Thursday night dinner at the Black Forest Restaurant. It was schnitzel, german pilsner, gewurztraminer, and fantastic friends for the pre-event gathering.

The next morning, with it damp in the parking lot, we held a quick driver’s meeting in the ballroom and headed out to see if we could seek some sunshine. If you were near the back of the pack, as I was in the ’58, you did get to reach for the sunglasses a couple of times, but the front of the pack were using their wipers for the entire day. We traveled from Harrison Hot Springs to Hope, through to Princeton and up to Tulameen for an out-and-back. A large portion of the group dined at Thomasina’s for lunch…which if you haven’t done yet, plan a trip!

Following lunch, we continued on to enjoy some CCA favourites. There was Twin Lakes, the radio telescopes, a pass by See Yah Later wines and eventually our overnight in Penticton. It was here that the parking lot became quite the interesting party, and the VW Camper Van was crowned the perfect sweep vehicle. While a Caterham 7 was having some engine work completed, the VW van was able to open the awning, and provide rain-free-coverage for the team. The rain wasn’t putting off any of the fun, though, as the parking lot party continued well after dinner with gourmet popcorn, Caterham 7 fixes, and great conversation.

As I began the day two drivers’ meeting, a welcomed text message came through from our photography team. “sunshine in Kelowna” was the message, and we simply had to jump in the cars to get there! Saturday was Westside Rd, the Salmon Arm & Armstrong loops, Barnhartvale Rd, and for some of us a new road – Duck Range Rd.

Sunday we enjoyed a fantastic drive down the Duffey to Pemberton, where the sun was out, the parking lot dry, and the barbeque lunch was enjoyed with t-shirts and sunglasses on. The perfect ending to an almost perfect weekend!

Please enjoy this photo preview from our photography team. This year Andrew Snucins and Andrew Holliday have combined forces as Meshed House Creative, and we are so thrilled to have them both as our photography team.

2023 New CCA Website!

Regular visitors to our site may have noticed things have changed a little. Normally one would post about how excited they are about a redesign, and note some of the exciting new features…

Alas, it would appear that we ‘broke’ the old website implementing our new online entry form. Whoops!

Please enjoy the temporary new look of the Classic Car Adventures website…while we quickly figure out a real redesign.

Maple Mille Survey

Your name helps us to make sure we don't have 300 responses from a single person...or a spam bot!
The Maple Mille has always been the third weekend of September, typically around September 20th. In exploring hotel options, it _may_ be beneficial to switch to the second weekend in September, typically around September 8th. Please let us know your preference of weekend for the Maple Mille moving forward.
Just across the border, in New York, Vermont and surrounding states, are some _fantastic_ roads. The Adirondack mountains, and their towns and hotels are unique and wonderful. While looking for routes and venues for the 2022 Maple Mille, we got to thinking - wouldn't the USA be an interesting option every few years? If we do a USA Maple Mille, we will start and finish in the USA. Unless the survey results suggest otherwise, we'd consider crossing the border every 3rd or 5th year.
Let us know if there is anything else you think we should consider for future Maple Milles.

Island Adventure Photo Preview!

Three days of driving adventure, and we didn’t just explore the south island. We didn’t just explore mid-island. We didn’t just explore the north island…nope, we did the whole thing! From Duncan to Port Renfrew, all the way up to Port Hardy, out to Coal Harbour and Port Alice. The only portion of the island left unexplored was Tofino, which if you’ve experienced the Kennedy Lake construction this summer, you know why!

It was great to see, and host, our friends on another adventure. For three days we felt ‘normal’ again. Chasing twisty roads, exploring remote towns, and enjoying phenomenal views. It wasn’t just the island views, it was the unique blend of classic cars brought to the event as well. Whether following one of the Intermeccanica’s, a ’24 Nash, T-Bird, the Porsche 904, a Mazda Cosmo(!), a genuine Porsche 930, or Tyson’s 454 Chevelle…there was an incredible mix of weird and wonderful.

The weekend was captured by Andrew Holliday, and the following gallery of 67 images represents just a preview of what’s to come!
