With the Westwood 50th Reunion coming up, I recently stumbled across this great video on YouTube featuring a lap of Westwood with Sterling Moss. Westwood Racing Circuit was Canada’s first purpose-built road race track, and was located in Coquitlam. Sadly, the track is long gone, but you can still see vintage cars in action, and bench race with the Westwood veterans at the River’s Edge Road Course in Mission, BC on July 17-19, 2009. See you there!
Wow, I was there for that race! My introduction to motor racing when I was 11. Must send this off to my brothers who were also there on that rainy day. I remember it being so dramatic to see that Cooper Monaco on fire and when it pulled off the track at the Carousel another driver stopped to help the guy out of his car. Laurie Craig was one of my heroes from those days – last I heard of him he was a tow truck driver over here on Saltspring Island.
I only raced once at Westwood – in a go-kart, probably around 1970. When I finally got myself into a racing car the old track was gone, sadly. Such good memories……
I have discovered I am the current owner of Laurie Craig’s Canadian champion 1964 corvette race car.
This has been verified by Mr. Laurie Craig.
I am looking for any pictures or information available for this car.
I will be meeting personally with Mr. Craig in the very near future to discuss his history with this car.
Thank you

My wife and I just discovered we own Laurie Craig’s red 1964 corvette that won this & many other races at Westwood.
Fantastic car!
We have just discovered we own Laurie Craig’s 1964 red corvette coupe. Mr. Craig confirmed this Jan 15, 2015.
This car is a great driver and in excellent condition. Just like when Laurie first purchased it in 1963.
